The Ministry of Culture Published Five New Edicts to Promote Audiovisual Productions in Brazil

The Secretary of Audiovisual Affairs of the Ministry of Culture has published a couple of weeks ago five new edicts to provide financial assistance to audiovisual productions and, as a result, promote local productions. Producers from all regions of Brazil may apply for this subsidy until February 10, 2012.

Basically, the edicts are divided in the following categories: (i) low budget fiction film; (ii) short fiction film; (iii) documentary; (iv) fiction for screenwriters; and (v) fiction for beginner screenwriters.

The resources may vary from R$ 25.000,00 (approximately US$ 12,500.00) to R$ 1.200.000,00 (approximately US$ 600,000.00), according to each edict.

This is a very good initiative from the Ministry of Culture as it aims at developing a sustainable audiovisual industry, besides encouraging and supporting upcoming audiovisual talents to promote a vibrant audiovisual culture in Brazil.

Links for the edicts are here:
